Success At Caradon Mixed Championships

A brisk wind stirred up some challenging conditions on the water and the occasional 5 minute downpours and dash for undercover held off the potential sunburnt shoulders on an otherwise hot and sunny day.

The Vets started their campaign in excellent form, securing themselves a place in the Semi finals, the super vets and open crews didn’t get off to the best start and as a result not coming in the first two of their heats ended up going through to the repecharge instead.

The super vets gave a solid performance in the repecharge but not enough to move on in the competition and gracefully and acceptingly took advantage of the Hospitality provided by the hosts.

The open crew went into their repecharge with a point to prove and came away with a first place to secure a place in the quarter final. With just enough time to sniff a piece of flapjack it was back out for the quarter final. A tough race with the eventual winners Caradon and other reputable clubs lined up the crew was very pleased to finish 4th in the race but meant the end of their campaign also.

Finally our superstars of the day took to their semi final and negotiated their way around some dramatic turns lying in 4th position coming out of the turns, grit and determination pulled them up ahead and finished in 2nd place securing a place in the final. Onto the final and a fantastic display bought the vets crew home with a Third place finish and a bit medal bling.
